On-page SEO checklist

Post by Md5656se »

If you're a copywriter, you understand the power of a good headline.

It is of utmost importance to attract the user's attention, in addition to increasing the CTR of the page: users will see this title in the SERP (search results) and if it does not attract them, they will most likely not read the article.

From an SEO perspective, it makes sense to include the keyword in the title, but only if it is short and has a high search volume: SEMrush research on Google Ranking Factors confirms this.

On the other hand, if the chosen keyword is a long-tail one, it will be more complicated to include it in the title, so we recommend that you focus on the quality of the writing.

Google and social networks will do the rest.

Also, remember that the title is not only present for users, but must also be useful for search engines.

Therefore, make sure to include titles in the article that help Google understand how the post is structured.

Keep in mind that the title (which functions as H1) and the rest of the titles within the text do not have to be exactly the same, but they must be related.

URL
On-page SEO checklist - URL

First of all, the URL of the content you are creating must be descriptive (avoid combinations of numbers and letters that add nothing).

Obviously, the URL is a good place to include your chosen keywords.

Also, don't forget that you'll likely need to update your content (including the title) within a year, so make sure the URL doesn't easily become outdated and can later be assigned to slightly different content or even completely unrelated text.

And of course, if you decide to change the URL, don't forget to perform the mandatory redirection to avoid problems with 404 errors.

Finally, the length of URLs is also an important factor.

It is best to leave them between 3 and 5 words at most.

As far as structure is concerned, the use of underscores or other types of separators between words is not recommended.

Meta description

Although the meta descriptions of your website's articles have no impact on ranking , it is important to think about users when writing them.

If they are well written, they will help you better understand what the text or page they belong to is about.

Be careful not to let Google choose your meta description for you: if you do, it will choose a random, non-descriptive phrase.

Also, don't forget to avoid duplicating meta descriptions on your website.
