Create evergreen content

Post by Raihan8 »

If you think that your content is seen by very few people or that it stops receiving visits over time, then it is time to create evergreen content . The term means “always green” and refers to timeless content; that is, it does not lose validity or relevance over time. In addition, it is of quality, attracts constant visits and lasts for at least 2 years.

An example of such content would be “How to change a tire” or “How to create a Facebook account.” It doesn’t matter if articles were written or videos created about them in 2018 or 2024, they will not lose their relevance and users will be grateful to read them.

These contents reinforce your brand identity because they are seen as more trustworthy, have a high potential to be cited or linked by other websites, and attract more visits from Google and other search engines, as they are usually of interest to the public.

For the MU Marketing website we created the article “ What is content marketing ” and to this day we continue to receive visits and will continue to arrive as the question becomes relevant and of interest to those interested in modern marketing. Time is not a determining factor for these articles because these are topics that do not expire easily.

The Universidad del Pacífico has a pillar page called “ Why the Pacífico ”, which answers the question “Why study at this university?” or “10 reasons to study at the Pacífico”. This content is one of the most visited because it quickly answers a question and is of great help to undecided young people.

Update your content
You've probably heard that Google likes quality content, with turkey phone number reliable sources, internal links and relevant information. Imagine creating a content article with all of these elements, which took you a long time and has great potential to go viral, but which didn't manage to do so and currently doesn't receive many visits because it lost its validity.

To get the most out of these articles and to ensure that they are seen by users again, it is essential to update them from time to time. An update involves not only changing sentences in the text, but also the cover image, adding new information that is related to what has been published, SEO or adding links to new pieces of content on the website. Although several changes are made, the time it takes to do so is less compared to writing a new article. Updated content is valued by Google and allows the time of permanence to increase due to the relevance and validity of the content.

What criteria should I follow to update my content?
Choose pages with evergreen content, also known as pillar pages, as they are frequently consulted by your audience. Add information, links and elements such as images or videos. The more content is modified, the more positive it will be perceived by Google.
Review your Google Analytics statistics and prioritize the most visited content to update it. Identify if you mentioned data or studies that are no longer current and add the most recent ones. Remember that topics can evolve quickly.
This is key if the post becomes irrelevant. For example, if you have very specific content, such as in the context of COVID-19, it may no longer be of interest to users. In that situation, according to Neil Patel, it is necessary to evaluate whether it is appropriate to completely renew it or remove the post.
